We landed safely this morning after a most enjoyable and successful trip. The weather was very good, nothing like Adelaide’s wintry welcome today! A few rainy days, 28 deg in St Petersburg and humid. Those days were long and hard with lots of walking and of course the rest of Europe seemed to be visiting the Hermitage, & Peterhof as well. The ashore excursions were well organised and we were glad we booked most of them before we left.
The facilities on board the Konigsdam were very comfortable. Our cabins well appointed. The food top class, as was the entertainment. Lucky there was plenty of walking to wear off a few of the extra grams (aka kilograms!). The ship is huge compared to some of the other cruise ships moored near us.
The days at sea were a good chance to recuperate and gather more energy for the next challenge. We enjoyed our dinner at the Pinnacle Grill which we saved for our last night on board.
Of course we met a few people who had complaints with cabins, incorrect charges applied etc but we didn’t. This happened to Sue who spotted a charge for a very expensive spa treatment which she didn’t have, 5 minutes before disembarking in Rotterdam.
The organisation of the change from Amsterdam to Rotterdam because the weather didn’t allow such a big ship to go through the lock was truly remarkable.
We were disembarked by 7:30 am and on the bus to Schipol arriving 2 hours before the 11:15 am flight with ease. It must have been a nightmare for Holland America but we enjoyed the extra look at the Netherlands.
Sincere thanks again for booking for us, Michael. It will up there with our best ever experiences on holiday!
Cheers Pam & Clarrie
